Hepatic circulation was evaluated in 20 healthy subjects by complex ultrasonic examination (grey scale, color and spectral Doppler) with the aid of the system "Acuson 128 X/P 10M", USA and a 3.5 MHz convex probe. Linear blood flow velocity and blood volume in portal, splenic, superior mesenteric and hepatic veins, celiac trunk and its brunches were registered; vascular resistance for abdominal arteries was determined. The following ratios were estimated: volumetric flow in proper hepatic artery to common portal flow; volumetric blood flow in proper hepatic artery/volumetric blood flow in portal vein; cross section area of portal vein/linear flow velocity in the same vein ("congestive index"); common volumetric portal flow/hepatic volume. Obtained data compared with literature are suggested to be used for hepatic circulation assessment in surgery of liver neoplasms, obstructive jaundice, portocaval anastomoses and orthotopic liver transplantation.
