Based on our own clinical experience and the reported data we substantiate the use of original xenografts stabilized in a 5% diepoxy solution (trade name KemAngioprotes) for expanded grafting in femoro-popliteal-tibial occlusions. We analyze the results of 217 operations accomplished in 189 patients with occlusive arterial diseases of the infrainguinal area, who had undergone revascularization employing diepoxy-processed vascular xenografts. Analysis of the long-term results (over the period long as 4.5 years) allowed to suggest the use of a new model of xenografts as an alternative for conventional vein grafts in primary above-knee reconstructions, saving the autogenous vein for surgical correction of other arterial pools. In all other clinical situations, xenografts may be considered as the material of choice, provided an adequate vein graft in unavailable.

KEY WORDS: Bioprotheses, infrainguinal reconstructions.
