SUCCESSFUL SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF ACUTE POSTTRAUMATIC ANEURYSM OF DESCENDING THORACIC AORTA

This report presents the case of successful repair of acute posttraumatic rupture of thoracic aorta, complicated by aortic intimal dissection and coarctation syndrome. Traumatic mortality in the developed countries is stated to excess the traditional leader of mortality scope cardiovascular diseases. From 10 to 40% of traffic accident victims die from aortic rupture. Detailed mechanism of injury, emergency, prehospital and hospital care, anesthetic and surgical management are described. Successful resection of thoracic aortic rupture and prosthesis implantation enabled not only life saving, but achievement of complete physical and social rehabilitation as well.
