The article presents the analysis of morbidity and mortality arising from cardiovascular diseases taking first place in the mortality. It has been stressed that the principal mortality cause arising from cardiovascular diseases is atherosclerotic complications: acute thrombosis resulted in myocardial infarction and stroke, chronic forms of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The work of the cardiological service of Russia has been analysed. As it has been defined, its quantitative and qualitative supplement is inadequate for the treatment of complications of cardiovascular diseases. Practically the cardiological service is not ready for solving the diagnostic problems of early atherosclerotic symptoms. The organisation of diagnostics and solving the problems of management tactics in any other local stenoses is much more unfavourable. It has been demonstrated that the decreasing of morbidity and mortality caused by cardiovascular diseases depends on the early diagnostics and some preventive measures. The renewal of regular examinations of the population and the development of adequate angiological service in the country are the ways of progressing in this field. On the grounds of the analysis conducted the authors have concluded that:

  • cardiovascular diseases are the principal cause of mortality in Russia;
  • the mortality rate of cardiovascular diseases in Russia is 2-3 times higher of the analogous index in the economically developed countries;
  • for the latest 9 years the mortality rate has been increased;
  • in the mortality structure of cardiovascular diseases the main place is taken by the diseases with atherosclerotic artery lesions as a morphological substrate (coronary and cerebrovascular diseases being 84.8% in this class);
  • at present there is practically no any organisational structure for diagnostics and treatment of atherosclerosis on early stages;
  • general practitioners, neuropathologists, general surgeons are not competent enough in the first signs of clinics and diagnostics of atherosclerosis, the application of modern technologies for antisclerotic therapy is insufficient;
  • it has been demonstrated that the maintaining of harmonious system providing cardiovascular diseases control with the obligatory included system for diagnostics and treatment of atherosclerosis on early stages is absolutely advisable;
  • Russia needs urgently the maintaining of angiological service.

The necessary and real preconditions for it have been formed.
