Different therapeutic modalities including compression sclerotherapy were compared in total 2,500 patients with varicose veins treated during the last 3 years. All patients were divided into 2 major groups: outpatients and hospitalized group. Compression sclerotherapy was used for 176 patients from the first group, combination of compression sclerotherapy and minimally invasive surgery under local anesthesia was implemented in 240 patients, and 1264 patients underwent microsclerotherapy of reticular varices and teleangiectasia. In 569 patients from the second group compression sclerotherapy was combined with Bebcock-Narath, Cockett and Linton procedures or endoscopic treatment of communicating veins, 36 patients underwent intraoperative trunk catheter sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy was used for 215 patients with trophic leg ulcers, they were also included in the second group. Each patient was examined by Doppler and color angioscanning. Follow-up period (from 6 months to 3 years) showed good results. T-hus, the use of compression sclerotherapy for varicose vein therapy decreased the rate of intraoperative and postoperative complications, as well as the extend of surgical intervention, and significantly improved esthetic and clinical results.
