The purpose of the present study was to analyze distribution of HLA-antigens in Uzbek patients with aor-toarteriitis. HLA-typing was performed using the standard 2-step microlymphocytotoxicity technique with sera provided by the Sankt-Peterburg Institute ofHematolo-gy and Blood Transfusion. Altogether 42 patients suffering from aortoarteriitis were examined. The control group consisted of 100 healthy donors. The patients and donors were Uzbeks. The results of the studies demonstrate that the most frequently identified antigens are HLA-B13, B40 and DR2. These antigens play an important role in predisposition to aortoarteriitis. The more rarely identified antigens are: HLA-A 10 and B35 playing the role of protectors in predisposition to aortoarteriitis. HLA-B40 antigen has the highest relative risk (RR=6.7). Combinations of these antigens in the individuals' phenotype increase the risk of aortoarteritis. The most frequently demonstrated haplotypes are: HLA-A 11/B40, B40/DR2, A3/B13.
