The authors describe an initial experience with the use of novel Vitaflon (polytetrafluoroethylene) vascular grafts manufactured by Ekoflon (Sankt-Peterburg) in reconstructive operations on the aortic arch branches. The operations were performed in occlusion of the proximo! part of the left subclavian artery and subclavian steal syndrome (one patient), in post-traumatic aneurysm of the distal part of the subclavian artery (one patient), and in critical stenosis of the internal carotid artery (one patient). The authors accomplished carotid endarterectomy with Vitaflon patch, carotid-subclavian bypass grafting, and subclavian artery replacement with Vitaflon grafts. The immediate postoperative period was uneventful. No residual stenoses or aneurysmal transformations were identified after operations using Vitaflon grafts.
