The paper is a review of surgical treatment of deep venous insufficiency of the lower extremities. The problem remains a matter of concern because of the high morbidity, disability and considerable treatment cost. The authors consider problems of the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and classification of deep venous insufficiency. The main emphasis is laid on the discription of the methods for surgical correction of deep venous insufficiency. Assessment of the advantages and deficiencies of one or another method rests on the analysis of the long-term results. The authors do not define indications for surgical treatment methods. So the readers can choose any surgical technique in terms of their own clinical experience.
