Screening of 1400 patients with ischemic heart disease in different timing after myocardial infarction was carried out by means of Doppler ultrasound, ultrasound scanning, venous occlusion plethysmography and transcutaneous polarography. Atherosclerotic lesions in abdominal aorta, brachiocephalic and lower limb arteries were revealed in 496 patients (35.6%). Some of these patients demonstrated clinical signs of vascular insufficiency in the correspondent areas due to deterioration of cardiac performance. Syndrome of chronic lower limb ischemia without pathological lesions in major arteries was also diagnosed. The authors recommend total screening of vascular system in patients with a history of myocardial infarction as an obligatory prophylactic procedure, that allows to prevent insufficiency of peripheral circulation and thrombotic complications in different vascular beds.

KEY WORDS: myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis.
