The method of balloon angioplasty and stenting of major vessels gains more and more supporters. The paper presents the analysis of publications on transluminal balloon angioplasty and stenting in patients with aortic hypoplasia, recoarctation and unfavorable for surgical intervention anatomy of aortic arch, comparison of experience accumulated in different clinics, indications and criteria of procedure effectiveness. The appropriateness of balloon-dilated stents use in infants, in patients with aortic arch hypoplasia related with coarctation and in patients with moderate residual stenoses is discussed. Stenting appeared to be an effective method of aortic coarctation and recoarctation treatment, expanding the area of implementation for balloon angioplasty. This method can be an alternative for surgical repair of aortic recoarctation and hypoplasia, resistant for angioplasty.

KEY WORDS: aortic coarctation stenting, balloon-dilated stent.
